Dr Aarti Bansal

GP and Clinical Net Zero Lead, Sheffield and Humber and North Yorkshire ICB

Aarti is a GP in Sheffield and the Clinical Net Zero Lead for Humber and North Yorkshire ICB. Aarti founded the Greener Practice network in 2017 and has led this initiative from a small local group to a thriving national community of health practitioners actively supporting primary care towards sustainable healthcare. Her main interest is in the integration of sustainable clinical healthcare principles into all aspects of policy and professional practice. Her recent work has focussed on supporting high-quality and low-carbon asthma care and has developed a step-by-step quality improvement toolkit for practices as well as an RCGP e-learning module on the RCGP’s net zero hub. 

She is a member of the NHSE Inhaler Working Group, the All Party Parliamentary Group for respiratory health and the council of healthcare professionals for Asthma and Lung UK. She is an associate at the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare and has contributed to their sustainable primary care course as well as the RCGP planetary health curriculum and HEE module. Aarti has a background in person-centred medical education and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School. She regularly talks and writes about how sustainable healthcare supports a positive vision of better health for people and communities.
