Dr Chris Provan
GP partner, Elmbank Medical Practice
Dr Chris Provan has been a GP partner at the Elmbank Medical Practice in Aberdeen for over 25 years. He works with his patients in a city centre community who often have multiple medical issues and is witness to the impact of health inequalities. He is the substance misuse lead within the practice. He has enjoyed training medical students, foundation doctors and was previously a GP specialty trainer.
He was inspired when he was a trainee when his practice completed the RCGP Quality Practice Award. He has worked with his local Faculty, Scottish Council and he was elected Chair of RCGP Scotland in 2023. He is focused on issues such as recruitment, retention and investment in primary care as well as improving support for international medical graduates.
